Bandai Roundnova
And then…disaster. I catastrophically borked the robot and put it in the trash. Did not enjoy the model. Experiencing a lot of that over the last year. Cannot find a fun model to work on. Going to sit on the sidelines for a while.

Sorry to hear that Doug. Don’t get too worried, we all experience periods of defeat from time to time. I’ve had bad months over the years where more than one model in a row went back in the box or straight in the bin. It’s happened more than once, I just don’t post those builds. Don’t sweat it - you’ll crack open a new box and have good luck with it soon.
Sorry to hear that, Doug. We all loose the Mojo from time to time. Hope you find that model that speaks to you!
That is why I am currently wipping together a 1974 Tamiya Quad gun tractor. Simple, no nonsense.
Hi Doug,
I have the same time-to-time. Starting a great subject, loosing mojo, moving to another kit to start, loosing mojo again, starting a third kit, half finishing and joining a brand new campaign with a fourth kit… and have one 98% ready and three at 20-60% stage.
All I do is just browse here and look at others’ works to gain interest resulting the Dark Side of the Power (called “jealousy”) to turn back to the unfinished business.
Scale modeling is kind of art. You need certain periods to create something great and you need other periods to sit back and doing nothing but collecting inspiration. Just like any great artists. I am in the sit back time with my rock band (no mojo writing lyrics to our music). Thankfully the members are also busy with their life ![]()
Just take some time and come back. We are patient to wait for your next kit here!

Sprayed the Ornithopter with IDF Modern Grey, mixed with Portland Stone for some highlighting..
Did the Spice Harvester with IDF Sand Grey, again mixed with Portland Stone for some highlighting…
And this is all three of them together..
Details painted… addeda reddish bit to the harvester’s lower half to show spice…
And the Harkonnen ornithopter…
A bit of weathering is next….
Wow!!! Beautiful paint job!
Nice work! The harvester looks really good!
Agree. That harvester is really a great job!
So…I bought another robot.
Parts washed and ready to go. Once again, the plan is to build something in 1/35 scale.
Looking great, Doug!
It is an underwater robot? Do something with clear resin, but be careful with water foam ![]()

Your submarine for the torpedo campaign is really neat.
Yes to underwater robot. Bandai invented a back story for all their 30 Minute Missions models. Sometime in the future, a pair of portals open in Earth orbit and two different alien races, who happen to look exactly like humans, and happen to use machines very similar the ones humans use, and happen to have the same technology level as humans, and happen to be militarily balanced with humans, decide to invade. What are the odds?
Each faction has about half dozen different mecha and there are a bunch of variations on each of those designs.
Portanova is the basic grunt mecha for one of the invaders. The one I purchased is the underwater version. I have no idea why a robot needs a scuba mask and crotch thrusters but, whatever. Spare parts.
I may sacrifice the Portanova to raise the Roundnova from the dead. Dunno.
Bandai Robots
I recovered Robot 1 (green) from the recycle bin and laid it next to Robot 2 (blue). Herr Otto makes an appearance for scale reference. By design, both robots are 1/144 scale. My project will be 1/35 scale.
Parts from both robots interchange…poorly. They have very weak joints and will not hold up to repeated use.
The current plan is to build new arms and lower legs for Robot 1.
Hi all, late to the show as usual but I have cunning plan, why ruin one kit when I could destroy three in one go. so the plan is to make a British version of this:
I will be using/sacrificing these kits:
thus far I have managed to do this:
I have done some work on the ATST body and one of it’s legs as well as order some WW2 British tank crew figures.
I will update when I can but my nightshift rota has been altered and I’m due to go holiday in Spain in two weeks.
An AV-RE?
Assault Vehicle Rebel Engineers?
I never thought about that part but it sounds good
