Looking great, Gerrit. You make some weird fantastic projects! ![]()
Nice to hear
.
And i make a simple Box for safe transport. This weekend we have a two day Workshop with the club, nice event with 30 people building models and a small show.
Fuselage is fixed and that will work also when the wings are mounted. I did one box like this for every model, made to measure easy for safe storage.
Today at the first day of the modeller club event i have added the landing gear, ,V-Tail and some more parts. Received another big box of parts and some kits, gifted other friends with unused stuff
, pretty good day and a lot of talking.
Wild build, Gerrit! Sounds like a great modellers club. Unfortunately I do not have anything like this in my area.
Ron, That looks like a pink panther in the truest sense of the word ![]()
Yes, it is in fact the biggest club in Germany, est. 1979 and around + 90 Members. Here you can see the Location, maybe with over 3 Million parts and tools ![]()
. I left the Meeting with 15 new kits and i have slaughtered around 50 build trash planes for parts .
Well, the Pink Panther is done!
Or Paul as in Paulchen Panther, the German version of my youth. Given the type of tank I thought that fitting.
That’s cool Ron! Love it.
Interesting build, Gerrit. The V tail came out nice. Like Jesper, I also have no club in my area. What a great opportunity for fellowship and community.
Happy Modeling,
-Zon
I have continued today adding a dozen of very small Details at the fuselage, build a custom gun for the front station, and painted all the wings.
I use a mix with Vallejo Shifter ( green to violett ) , glaze, black, thinner and PU Varnish and paint every side twice.
That result is very difficult to see on photos but it looks like the shimmer of insect wings in real light. The extreme fine structure at the surface is good for the look, i am happy with that. The very used look is exactly what i imagine for the wings.
I use a similar mix ,with more black , to paint all the windows from the inside, this Ornithopter is used in a hot desert Environment
.
The next step is the complete paint Job with a basic grey, followed by the light sand color.
No Cockpit Details ! They would not be visible through the dark colored windows.
It is very difficult to make a concept for all the little things to do, some windows are still in place and must get the color from inside before it is out of reach, than the same windows must be safed from following paint
, the guns are still left and so on. But at some point you have to push the start button and accept small mistakes ….
Gerrit, congrats on being the first finisher! A very unique and creative build! Super cool!
Looking forward to see more on your Me-262 tridekker!
Well, that’s not something you see every day…
Very nice work, a 'thopter with a steampunk vibe; I’d have liked to see the tail surfaces looking a bit more old-fashioned but it’s fine as it is.

You are right
, but those fins were gifted to me at the club Meeting last weekend, and they fit so very easy, i must have used them, so i went to a little more modern style .
That’s come together really well. Brilliant bit of modelling.
Which reminds me, I have the Meng mini Atreides and Harkonnen ornithopters somewhere. They might make good little weekend projects for this campaign.
Nicely done! Great imagination.
Later,
Lee
It has arrived! Now to build it…
I always loved the AAT since I saw phantom menace as a kid. The funky look of it appealed to me (similar to my appreciation for Japanese tanks).
First impressions, this thing is gonna be big. Haven’t built an AMT kit before. I’m not sure if I’ll go with the tan color or something else. I did do a Japanese style AT-ST after all!
I do know I want to try for those “scorching” marks from the rocket launcher ports, will have to look up how.
If anyone has advice or anything they think a new-ish modeler should before tackling this, or ideas for color scheme, let me have it
