Seaplane tender USS Langley AV-3 1:350

Looking good Thomas,

The safety nets look splendid, I have invested the set for my CV1 Langley, The whole build is impressive, the aircraft are bring her to life.

Cheers

Outstanding work, Thomas! Those seaplanes may be a bit of work, but they sure do look good. :smiley_cat:

Those finished planes look outstanding. That is dedicated modelling :+1::+1:

Totally awesome work Thomas. Both on the ship and the aircraft. Continuing to watch your progress.

@RedDuster: Thank you Simon. You have the CV1 Langley? Oh dear, that would mean more girders, more nets and even more planesā€¦

@TimReynaga: Hey Tim thank you :yum:

@Johnnych01: John thank you, I feel honored :innocent:

@yellowhammer: Thank you for staying with my build John :raised_hand_with_fingers_splayed:

IĀ“ve finished the first P2Y Ranger (exept the rotor blades for better painting the engines later) as a prototype and exercise object for correct bending the complicated struts. This seaplane is astonishingly big! Eleven planes with disassembled upper wings are following nowā€¦

That looks pretty gorgeous

Nice P2Y, the struts look real fun!

I must admit I am a glutton for punishment when it comes to subject choice. I have always had a soft spot for the old covered wagon in her original configuration as a carrier.

Cheers

Stunningly beautiful work!

Based on your German weather report, I have a feeling you live in DĆ¼sseldorf, or nearby. My wife and I lived there for over 3 years twenty years ago when I worked for Henkel. We arrived on January 1, 1999 and didnā€™t see the sun until May. We loved the Weinacht Markts!

I appreciated your warnings about bending Eduard PE. Itā€™s brutal. If you make an error and try to resend, the product breaks. Itā€™s quite hard and brittle, and while being beautiful detailed, itā€™s very unforgiving. How did you join all the girders and trusses together? I find cyano-glues to be difficult and resort to actually soldering them for security.

Fantastic work and I do not envy you one bit doing that PEā€¦ It looks amazing

Trumpeter says that itā€™s going to release both versions of the Langley in 1/700 in 2022. Looking forward to them a LOT!!!

@Builder2010 : Vielen Dank! Your feeling is betraying you, I do actually live far away from DĆ¼sseldorf - I come from near NĆ¼rnberg in Bavaria. The sun was not very much present this year, also in my area, but this changes from year to year. I am curious if the Weihnachtsmarket are open this year or not as our federal and national authorities are still very strict with restricting everything hereā€¦

About EduardĀ“s PE: I feel these parts are a bit thinnner now then the previous releases - or maybe I am getting old :unamused:. I superglued all with Roket cyanoacrylate and a sharp toothpick. neuralgic points which needed accurate glued connections were treated with Roket Blaster cyanoglue accelerator which is also applied to the needed spots with a sharpened toothpick.

Greetings from southern Germany :raised_hand_with_fingers_splayed:

Thomas

@Johnnych01: John, slowly I also do net envy myself but the end is near

@steviecee: building both ships in 1:700 scale with a similar amount of etched parts would be no more fun to me. If you can tackle this I suggest you to apply as a brain surgeon or something like this :joy:

Jippie gentlemen, I mastered to assemble all twelve P2Y seaplanes. I have to admit it was as expected a tiresome and difficult work as some struts didnĀ“t wanted to glue where I am intendet or bended unexpectedly or snapped or just disintegrated during assembly

I chose to display all exept one in a stowed condition without the main and the tailwings as in the one life picture above. Propeller blades were still left off until painting of the main aircrafts is done.

Off for a beer for a needed slowdown

Looking at that picture I recommend at least 2 beers and maybe even a shot of something stronger!
