Gluing the body together. First the front half. The rear needs to be tackled separately each side needs its own gluing and clamping.

Glad to see you making some progress on your Wagon Gary @Gary_Kato, all my time so far has been spent on cleaning flash on the Bird Dog, are building a vignette of some sort or a stand alone model?

Hello guys,
No progress to report on “Jake” — only a major stall. :stop_sign::raised_hand: Today was the official teardown of my workbench and airbrush station in preparation for my big move to Texas. All kits and tools are in boxes now. :package: Mid September is my tentative move-in date, so it looks like I won’t be able to meet the September 30 campaign deadline. :calendar: … And things were coming along so well. :hammer_and_wrench::paintbrush: :slightly_frowning_face:

Just for the heck of it, this is where things stand…

Airbrush Station then…

and now…

That is a pity… But please do keep us up to date with the progress, will you?

For me, 1 step forward and 5 back. First, I got the first decal (data plate) applied. The 5 back, was touching up the tires. For some reason, the colors don’t match. I double checked to make sure I was using NATO Black. So, I’ll have to do the tires all over again.

The catapult looks amazing now it’s painted up. Looking forward to seeing it completed after your move.

Did you use the vacform canopy on the Jake?

@ Stephen (phantom_phanatic). Many thank’s!
I haven’t gotten around to the open canopy detail yet, but the vacform looks really good. And as it was the only one I could find in the entire World, I’ll need to be extra careful when I go to cut it apart. :hocho:

Currently, my modeling room is packed away, and the caskets won’t be opened until the Baron arrives in Texylvania at the end of September. :coffin::coffin: :coffin:

The open canopy will definitely make that project come alive. Might have to invest myself as mine being an older boxing has some damage to the canopy where it has broken off the sprue. An annoying white mark where it’s crazed at the break. I think Hannants might have a few of these sets in stock, at least the last time I checked.
I won’t be making a start anyway until I find out more details on the catapult. I’m doing the aircraft from the Takao-class Maya, which seems to have a catapult that was fitted flush with the upper deck. Somewhere I have got Fujimi’s 1/700 Takao I might be able to scale up from. The major structural detail at least

I see your a fan of What We do in the Shadows! That’s one of our favourites in our house, although I think BBC is still a couple of series behind.

I assume you’ve also seen the original movie that sparked the series? Absolute gold in my humble opinion!

Well, I am working on the many detail parts of the kit (shovel and oar at this moment). Hopefully, by August 1, I will be done.

Kind of a random place in the construction to post a photo, but I’m tickled to actually have a couple of hours in the construction phase:

And just like that, the interior is done…

Next thing is to add some mesh to some parts. Looks like none comes in the kit. I believe I have some left over from a Zvezda T-34 that should work…

Mesh should have been provided in the kit.

I’m still here! I haven’t choked on this build yet but I admit there’s been a couple of times I was tempted to box it up and say fuggit! “We forgets how tedious airplane models is didn’t we precious”. As much as I appreciate Roden’s unique offerings, I hate building their kits. Any way, it’s been interesting researching the Bird Dog, one source states this was the first all metal plane built for the DOD . . . hmm, I question that but what do I know right. Something else I found quite interesting was the practice of air dropping livestock, namely pigs, to the Montainards who greatly appreciated the gesture. One discourageing realization was learning that the floatplane version was unlikely deployed to SEA, well dammit, I guess I’ll park it next to the Gamma Goat and call it a “coulda been”.
What you see here is where I’m at as of today, I’m in the eleventh hour but I’m determined to finish this GB, I’m 0 for two so far. I’ve had the darnedest time getting my head into this build but it’s coming along.

I sprayed the pontoons with enamel aluminum four weeks ago and they’re just now losing their tackyness.
The pilot figure looks like a 10 year old in a highchair, that’s why I hate mixing scales it just don’t work . . .

The pontoons themselves look out of scale to me but I can’t say for sure . . .

The next few days will decide if a group build is my kinda thing, we’ll see

Mine had no mesh as far as I could tell. I would have thought it would have been bagged with the decals but no…

You two must have gotten a bad batch. Mine had the mesh.

Keep at it Cajun. It’ll all fall together soon. :hammer_and_wrench:

Wish I didn’t have to bail on my ‘Jake’ build due to my upcoming move. Speaking of… With only a few weeks remaining here, my office / work room AC unit decided to fry today! :zap:
