Thank you, Michael! Sooner or later I will tackle the FW-200 C, same brand, same scale…now that I’ve got some practise
And this is the second B17 finished, less weathering than the first one…
and a picture of the two ladies together…
Ladies are looking great
Ok so my venture into Revell’s Lancaster has begun.
Not much so far, cockpit, outer engines subassembly, wings and some minor elements glued together.
So far, I’m quite happy with quality. Didn’t notice fitting issues, details are crisp, plastic is stiff and overall it’s nice to work with. (I hope I didn’t say that in wrong moment and suddenly I’ll stumble into massacre ).
Here’s what I achieved so far:
Next will be priming and painting interior elements. After that PE parts for cockipt area and closing hull…
Finally managed to push build a little forward. Got all interior primed with Surfacer 1500 and all parts I guessed should be interior green were painted with Hataka C025 brightened with few drops of white. I don’t know if green spots are correct, because instructions aren’t clear in some areas.
After that I drybrushed everything with some buff/gray colours and applied all PE parts from Eduard set I could manage (some handles were sacrificed to carpet monster).
I mixed Modellers World washes - dust & light brown - and applied generously in all areas. Now I need to clean them a little and I can close the hull.
Here’s the update:
For this campaign I will attempt ICM’s Ilya Muromets in 1/72. I will have to plan how to simulate the rigging (which looks to be the hard part of the build). No crew is provided in the kit.
Looking forward to this. Rigging in 1/72nd scale, especially a 4 engine plane, would be be a challenge for sure.
When I took the sprues out of the plastic bags I could see that they were spotted with coagulated mold release, so I put them in a tray full of warm water and dish detergent to soak over night. The release spots are circled
luuuuuuuv it!
All right now, ready to start something completely different. The Minicraft 1/144 RC-121 C/D.
If I can find where I hid the decals, I’ll do it as a WC-121N Warning Star out of Da Nang in 1968.
Lancaster got its wings fixed. Unfortunately I messed up scribing panel lines on top, so I need to fill the mess and try to somehow rescribe… I really suck in scribing long lines . Im struggling with this line for last 2 weeks and maybe even already lost the shape.
So tomorrow back to sanding sticks and last attempt to make these panels pop or… I will leave them messed up…

Good luck Radek, you can do it!
Michael
I’d love to see it finished, Mark!
Good luck, Radek !
It looks very impressive already

First spars went in Yesterday, I will be closing the fuselage Today. The nose part is separated from the fuselage but the fit is not that bad. The whole plane reminds me of an eel for some reason.
Closed up the fuselage and its clear that this is a very crude short run. This one will need a lot of putty. Im thinking about portraing a run-down abandoned plane (as they in fact were in soviet union).
Well this is where we stand right now and with all the putty and rescribing needed, I realised I dont have enough time to finish this one and not botch it. So I will soldier on, but not for the medal this time…
Anyway, it looks really promising, Jacob, even if too late for this campaign…
