That looks really tiny, but great nevertheless! I like it, what manufacturer is this? And of course, what scale?
Cheers
Peter
Thank you Peter! You are most kind. This is the old Pit Road Skywave 1/700 scale kit. (More details farther up in the text stream as interested)
Well, unfortunately due to COVID strike I was out of order for almost 3 weeks with me but mostly my family quite heavily impacted - needless to say I barely managed to prep Christmas stuff and had to do it basically alone. So it was only yesterday when I managed to get back to workbench. Although I primed and preshaded model, but to be honest, I won’t make it to finish line in 4 days. If there’s no extension planned ( I could really praise additional 2-3 weeks ) that means Lancaster will be my ideal choice for HQ 2024 edition.
Here’s the current stage:
@phil2015 I would support a 3 week extension so we can see this over the line.
Very nice preshading work Radek. I will not manage to finish this one in time. The issue is that every coat of putty needs atleast 12 hours to dry abd thats already pushing it. And tgere are atleast 3-4coats to go.
I feel your pain Jacob.
BTW - I might have some tip for you if you don’t know it already - if it’s not tight places that are hard to sand down I use CA glue to fill gaps. Hardens quick, it’s quite easy to sand and what I learned from my Lancaster’s struggle - it’s also easy to scribe something in it (like lines, rivets, etc). Also makes some bonds between parts stronger as a bonus
I’m happy to grant an extra 3 weeks.
If you’d like me to update the end date, I’ll be happy to.
Michael
If you can do that, that would be great.
OK, will do. January 22nd then?
Michael
perfect, thanks!
I’m out of this campaign and Ilya’s in the bin. I got tired of endless flash clean-up only to have the parts not fit. Many parts including the fuselage, fuel tanks. engine blocks, undercarrige are warped, landing wheels out of round. I like to enjoy putting a kit together but this was tedious!!! not fun
Oof….that is tough to see. It should come with a warning. I understand the action.
O.K., now go and retrieve all that plastic from the bin, put it in a box and hide it somewhere out of sight where it won’t upset you. You’ll need it one day when you are overcome by an irresistible urge to build something Steampunk…
Cheers,
M
Tough luck, Stevie. Sometimes one just has to protect ones sanity. It is a hobby after all
There is a Law of Diminishing Returns. Sometimes you just have to say “F*ck This!” and bin the kit.
It’ll be perfectly fine, at least for me.
Uff Stevie, that must’ve been real pain, but it’s hobby, so it’s for fun not for struggle. So if it’s no longer fun it’s time to let it go
First colours applied on Lanc. Dark Earth & Dark Green from Hataka Orange Series.
Tomorrow masking and no colours anymore, I want it PAINTED BLACK
Thanks guys. Steampunk is an option but not with that kit. I’d get better parts from a cereal box toy.
