Torpedo Away!

Russell, sorry I can’t help with the colour question but I will look at the Tamiya 1/48 kit in a day or two and see what colour they say. Off the top of my head I can’t remember if I have a book on the Swordfish, at work at the moment so give me a couple of days.

On a side note I have Trumpeters 1/48 Fairey Barracuda on the way, yet another torpedo bomber, and although the Grace was top of the list for getting built the Barracuda has jumped to the top of that list in a HMS Lusty 1944 scheme when she was operating off Sumatra for Operation Cockpit alongside USS Saratoga.

Alright here i have my entry.

No decals it mentioned their for the “rock bottom” price, no problem

Actually this little Revell rebox of an ICM mold is a really nice kit.

Minor adjustment to the rudder.

From a piece of pallet wood destined for the fireplace i tried to get it to look like a chunk of drift wood you can find on the beach,..with the “steal wol vinegar method” i aged the wood. It’s ok but i would like to have it more grey and not so dark, apparently i used too much steal wol  . Oh well better next time.

A bit of real beach sand an PVA glue and we have a beach puddle

Next primer, and before the grey camo some black and rust colors sealed with hairspray

After “aging” the model with some real water plus some extra dust/sand, i poured some resin in the hole to create a standing water effect.

Then some small extra add on’s to make it a bit more “lively” and we where ready is guess

This “wunder waffen” failed, from the almost 400 build non of them made a real impact with the cost of many German sailors, by the looks of the closed hatch below the same can be assumed.

The scene is a 50’s North Sea Beach were local fishermen knew that something close to the shore was tearing up their fishing nets. It took a very low tide to reveal the reason and their luck as one of the G7e torpedo’s is still attached to the revealed Molch wreck.

Thanks for the reason to build this little mini sub

Russell sorry for the delay, I’ve checked the Tamiya instructions they Tamiya call for Interior Grey/green via a paint mix.

Got me looking at my Swordfish now!

This group includes some interesting kits. Thanks all for sharing.

1/72 scale Revell S-100 Schnell boat continues with a trial fit of the loose items. Fish onboard. Still much to do!

Jan, looks great. I am building the 1/35 version and I plan to place it is resin to show it in action. I love the beached diorama as well and will probably steal that idea.

@ John (john1492),
Just for the sake of photo sessions, I vacuum all the tiny important parts into my Dyson and sort them out later. :tornado:

Thankyou for looking that up Luciano…

It’s not too late to switch builds to a Swordfish: the more Stringbags the better

Basic construction has finished - still considering if I should try to show one of the torpedoes being fired… :face_with_peeking_eye:

More to follow :slightly_smiling_face:
