What the postman brought today (Armorama)

I used those when the MkIV first came out - worth their weight in gold!

Only the original releases of the Mk IV (Male and Female versions, No.2008/2009) have the 5 part links. Takom essentially listened to modelers and all the subsequent releases like the Tadpole, Mk I, Mk V, Mk IV Combo Kit, etc. have single piece links that clip together, exactly like the Masterclub ones. Takom even released the single piece link track separately as well.

It’s probably a first release boxing. It was sitting on my lhs’s shelf gathering dust for ages before they dropped the price about a year and half ago and I snagged it. I’ve never actually seen another one so had no idea about the newer tracks. Good on them for listening. What they did with that boxing was just insanity!

Ive got a couple of M1’s that could benefit from those. Both RFM, a ‘91 model and a TUSK 2.

I get AM-tracks too, the tracks in many kits have so much parts, it’s seems to me just to put the parts that a kit has to higher numbers.6 or 8 parts per track-link is a little much

Sometimes I’m convinced such things are designed by a committee. No model builder would think up something like that!

I’ve been lucky that is the only one I’ve ever had like that. I’ve got the Whippet, St Chamond and FT-17 and all have single piece clip together links. Nice! Tamiya had a really good set in the Char B1 too.

For that reason I like the models from " das werk ", some of them are new-releases from other companies, some are self-designed. There is a sdkfz 251 in 1/16 coming in september, one designed by das werk and one by trumpeter. I bet, there will be a big difference. The " das werk " guys working at " modellbau könig ", a big german model-seller with a YouTube channel on which they present new models, tutorials and building-videos. They can answer any question you have and I’m sure they will present a great model :v:

@Armor_Buff - Hi Wade, I looked at them, but the problem is that the Meng Namer uses Merkava Mk III running gear, which isn’t compatible with Mk IV track (which this offering is). Namers used both types of track depending on when they entered service.

I bought Friul Merkava Mk III track from a supplier in Greece, which arrived only two weeks later.

From the sprue shots alone the DW knocks Trumpeters effort out the park. It may be more expensive but definately a case of you pays for what you get.

Found and ordered an OOP Bison Decal last month and it arrived today:

I am running out of letters/numbers on the one I have in my stash and have some built Maybachs that need registration plates. So I’m very happy!

Cheers,

When I saw that das werk and trumpeter bring out the same model I ordered the das werk model, I thought that it’s the better one. I Iike the trumpeter 1/16’s but you can see at the das werk self producted that the guys there are modelers too

Found this book on Amazon. With Hobby Link coming out with their Rome Plow this gives a good idea of what these were used for and some good stories of the guys that worked them. Even tho I wasn’t in landclearing, they brought back a lot of memories. Wayne

Looks like you could use Trumpeter track unpainted looking at this photo.

They just wanted to be sure you got hours and hours and hours and hours of enjoyment from that kit.

I’m pretty sure those tracks are in violation of that UN clause about cruel and unusual punishment!
